Aren’t there many solictorS working for AGS? Does the name refer to the CEO of the AGS, much the same way as the Office of the Privacy Commissioner is named after the Privacy Commissioner? In that case, why isn’t this firm called The Office of the Australian Government Solicitor. Many, many points to whoever can answer this well!
No! Each Pizza Hut is an individual "hut" so to speak. Each office of the AGS has MULTIPLE solicitors. Gav, your answer is not helpful.

Because it is a legal entity, not a person. Just like Pizza Hut, not Pizza Huts even though there are heaps of them.

The point still still the same, there are many pizza huts, but their name is still singular – but Domino’s has the plural when it could be Domino.

Anyway, in a longer answer to your question, from their website:

We operate on a fully commercial and competitive basis as a legal firm in government ownership. Our shareholder ministers are the Attorney-General and the Minister for Finance and Deregulation. As a government business enterprise, we are subject to the reporting and accountability requirements of the Commonwealth Authorities and Companies Act 1997.

Our government mandate also allows us to act on behalf of Commonwealth-owned businesses, state and territory government organisations, and international clients where the Australian Government has an interest.

Basically they arent a department/ministry etc which is why there isn’t a single person known as the "AGS".
