I am currently employed as a trainee but i have been looking for otgher work with more money. I have an interview on monday for a barristers Assistant and i am not sure whether i should tell my employer that i am looking for work and have an interview on monday.

yeah its usually not best to tell your current boss you want a new job because they may take offense and if you dont get the job it may get awkward, on the other hand if you think they will support your decission tell them, really they dont need to know until you hand in your notice.
Dont tell your looking for another job, either take 1/2 a day off , the day off and dont say anything unless you get the job. In these times employers will find any excuse to fire
