Hi,
How long do you have to serve as a lawyer in Australia, before becoming/applying for a Judge?
When you begin your career, what do you start as (eg. Solicitor, Lawyer, etc.), and what are the ranks, if any?

That explains it quite well. Basically you need to do your law degree, become a barrister, practice for ages then you get offered a position of a judge.
The experience and appointment process varies slightly depending on the type of judge – state, federal, which court etc.
As the above answer stated – you dont apply, you are offered or requested to apply for consideration.
