I don’t understand the differences between lawyers, barrister’s and solicitor’s.
Don’t they all ahve the same role? They have to represent a client in court. Can someone please explain the differences in words that i’ll be able to understand, rather then words such as, advocacy.
Thankyou so much

The term lawyer is a generic term for both solicitors and barristers.
A solicitor may be heard in any court (not just a Magistrate’s Court) – but you would be wise to use a barrister in any court higher than this. In general, solicitors work with clients and may handle things such as trusts and conveyancing. Barristers on the other hand specialise in court matters and deal mainly with the solicitor rather than the client. If you have a matter to go to court, you would be wise to engage both a solicitor and barrister, as they both work together to do different tasks to prepare and present the matter at trial. A Queens Counsel is a more senior or experienced barrister.
