It’s against my integrity, but would the judge see it differently?
Do they do this anymore?
NSW Australia law only please.
(not sure which section this should be put in sorry)
RE: I may have to go to court soon in regards to my kids & their lying father. We had a mediation conference in February & he has since put in things that arent true & are ridiculous, so my solicitor is writing back to say I dont agree, so it may go to court. I’m really scared because I dont want to lose my kids and currently have 100% care of my oldest (there are 4 other siblings whom he is the father of as well – so 5 in all).
My belief system is really important to me. Please dont say it’s just a book either.
The bible is more than just a book to others & I’m sure they see it as equally important (which is why I asked not to say it’s just a book!). This isnt meant to be a religious argument. If someone feels the need to make those comments, then please go to the R&S section under Society & Culture, NOT here. This is a serious question!

1 1/2 years ago I hired out a movie and returned it,to the desk before the due date. Now, after all this time and no contact I have began receiving letters from a debt collecting company demanding payment for the movie, saying it was never returned.I called the company several times and explained that I did indeed return the movie, and remember the date as it was the day of my birthday party so it stuck in my head. They told me that the video store refuses to believe me, as they cannot find it and the other day I received a letter saying that they are going to file a Judgement with the Court and obtain an Attachment of Earnings or Warrant (to cease my property or wages). I called them again today and said this is ridiculous. They are causing my young family and I great stress, and I refuse to pay them the 6 they are demanding because it is so unfair and unjust. What can I do about this (besides just giving them the money to have them leave me alone)? I cannot afford a solicitor
The funny thing is Adam_k, it WAS Blockbuster! I didnt want to mention any names so left it out. Also, I am in NSW Australia. Is there anyone from my area who may have an idea? Thanks everyone for your replies. They are very helpful.

Living in NSW AUSTRALIA, we have sold a property that was part of a deceased estate and has a number of beneficiaries. house was sold and settled on the 20/12 but the solicitor is stalling in releasing the money, saying that the bank check has been deposited into his trust account and that it needs to be cleared before he can give us individual checks, which doesn’t make sense to us – as to the best of our knowledge bank checks are cleared funds. the earliest may be five days after settlement, however in all likelihood as his office is closed for the holidays, we will not see our money until end of jan.
when we enquired this with him, he called us idiots and hung up on us.
is anyone aware of our rights in regards to obtaining this money now? any advice is greatly appreciated!

My ex and I separated and we have already had the property settlement done in court. I have to pay him a set amount of money. The court did not order the house to be sold, but I can only pay him his share if we sell the house. However, his child support payments have just been adjusted, and are quite a bit higher now than when we did property settlement in court. It would mean in 4 years time, he would have saved paying me what he is supposed to get under settlement. It also means the kids (3 and 6 years old) and I would not have to find somewhere else to live, move etc. I can refinance whats left of the mortgage into my name without a problem, plus save real estate fees, solicitors, removalists etc too.
Should I offer him no more child support payments ever, if he signs the house over to me? I can’t find a website that offers this kind of advice to people.

We have almost finished a civil court case against an insurance company. I am confident we will win but can’t get the solicitor to tell us what happens next. We have a date for the verdict – presuming we win how long does the insurance company have to appeal? Do they have to pay anything to us before they appeal? (Medical expenses, etc)
It is District Court, NSW, Australia. A car accident that was outside the MAA guidelines. Thanks
