We are trying to sell some property at the moment. We got a good offer two weeks ago and were happy to go ahead. Contacted my conveyancer, etc and just waited for exchange of contracts. Didn’t hear anything for a week and phoned my Agent today and she tells me the prospective buyer sent an email saying they didn’t want to go ahead with the sale(hadn’t signed any contracts yet). She seemed about when the email was sent(as she had been away) but I was upset that we didn’t get told asap. We had our hopes up and when I last checked on the Real Estate site it said our property was ‘under contract"
I’m not going to pull out but do I have right to complain because they didn’t let me know asap – a whole week had gone by without hearing nothing..

    G’day..

    Okay, here’s the thing.

I’m a 17 year old, Australian guy in Year 12 who is looking at what to do next year. I’ve been bitten by the travel bug, and my natural ability to teach is a driving force in my choices.

I’ve done a bit of research into getting my TESOL certificate, to qualify me to teach English overseas.

I guess I’m asking for peoples thoughts, experiences and opinions on this adventure?

    The Plan:
    Jan-July
    -Earn TESOL Certificate
-Acquire Bar tending and Coffee Barrister course.

    July
Line up a 6 month contract teaching English in a school in China

    After that, I ideally would like to organise 4 x 3-month contracts. For example;

    Jan-March in Japan
    April-June in Cambodia
    July-Sept in Germany
    Oct-Dec in India

The other countries I would like to tutor privately, work in bars/clubs at night and coffee houses during the day.

I’m prepared for the culture shock, and going at it alone, but I guess i’m just asking to see if this is a realistic plan?

I think it sounds too good to be true-.

(The countries are just an example)

I’m just after some advice, opinions and experiences.

    Thanking you all in advance,

    Brad.

There are two guys at my church who are planning on getting involved with this shonky telecommunications company. The reason i know it’s shonky is because i work for solicitors who act for them and others like them. I know what is in the contracts and i know the crap they put people through.

These guys are going to sell contracts for them, doing door-to-door, and to my understanding, i think they have to invest money into it first. I don’t know why, maybe they contract for them or something?

The thing is, us Aussies are very skeptical when something is too good to be true, which is why no one has even heard of most of these companies.

But for the ones who have been sucked into the scam, there have been articles on current affair shows exposing alot of what happens.

So anyway, with the recession and the exposure and stuff, i just think they are setting themselves up to fail. They are both really keen on it, i think they have been to some kind of seminar that promised them the world. It sounded a bit Amway-ish to me.

Should i say what i think about it and burst their bubble, or should i remain silent while they walk into a potential trap?

My friend who plays in a regional soccer league didnt know that the no: of games have been changed from 15 to 17 games this season, when he signed a contract. His solicitor didnt know this either. There was a clause saying "every player agrees during the term of his contract he will engage in activities related to football only for the club and will pay for all the club in all its games". My cousin brought an action to have these contracts aside.
