I am seriously thinking about changing my surname (I have the forms to change it)….however I am wanting to know what is involved afterwards? I own a house with my partner (actually the bank owns our house)….do we need to change any house documents with our solicitor? What else do I have to change?

Are you thinking about selling your home yourself? then
well, when you get married, you have to change your name on your driver’s license, social security card, credit cards, if you have a checkbook-which is where you probably have your house loan through, so they will change that on your loan too, on your bills phone, electric, water, heat, (if you want them sent to you! lol). There are probably more, but that’s the jist of it.
I just changed my last name and after it was changed through the court I had to change everything individually myself. SSN, Drivers License, every bank account, investment account, credit cards, library cards, absolutely everything with your name on it. It was considerable more work than I thought it would be. Especially the official documents, they each involved standing in line for a long time and taking time off work to do it.
Try the site below on that legal matter, make sure to change the location/state in which you reside. Hope this helps.
