I returned 7 DVD boxes to the DVD store one year ago .The owner said that one of the box should have two disks andI only return one disk.
I have searched my home serveral time and couldn’t found it. And this is the first time for such thing happened to me. I refused to compensated becasue I thought it may not be my fault.
Last month, I received a letter from the DVD store to take legal action and I rang and informed him that it was not my fault and he said that He would suspend my membership only. For me, It’s ok becasue I have already switched to another DVD sotre.
Two weeks ago, I received a letter form a debt collection agent to demand the payment of for that missing disk. I rang the agent and said that the DVD owner told me that he only suuspend my membership. The guy said that he would spoke to that DVD store owner..
last week, I received letter from a solicitor to demand 0 ($ 30 solicitoe fee ). I was stressed as what I should I do now.
If I pay 0, I think it is very unfair to the consumer in future because this DVD store will make use of us this procedure to get his money back to all the other customer again.
But If I do nothing, how much further cost to me and the possibility that I will win or lost in the court. Please advise to me asap.

Write to the solicitor and tell them that there is no missing disc. The item was returned to the DVD owner in the condition it was received.
You discussed this with the owner at the time and it was agreed that there was no further action. You have sinced changed your supplier without any problems and consider the unreasonable claim for money to be harrassment for which you expect to be compensated.
Keep the letter they sent you and a copy of your reply.
Contact the citizens advice bureaux if you hear from them again unless it is by way of an apology. Then keep that.
Don’t do it by phone, you need to write and get a written reply.
