With the majority of the country putting a large emphasis on saving money, it’s important to try and make some extra cash wherever you can. Luckily, with the popularity of sites like eBay, it’s easier than every to take those unwanted gifts and stocking fillers that are taking up space in the house and get some extra cash.

Online auction sites are extremely good for selling the things you no longer need or want. All you need to do is setup a PayPal account, link it to your bank and register on the sites you want to use. Once you’ve done this, you’ll be able to list and sell pretty much anything on both sites and quickly start making money. Most of the sites use a dedicated system of feedback, so potential buyers can see how trustworthy you are. At first you’ll need to work to build up your feedback profile but once you have done, if you can keep the feedback mainly positive you should have no problem attracting bids and sales.

Amazon is excellent if you want to sell DVD’s, music, games, etc. although recently they’ve moved into much wider markets. eBay is for everything, with a huge number of categories you can sell anything from unwanted 18th birthday gifts to clothes that no longer fit. The only things you might struggle to sell on eBay are personalised gifts, as they’re generally too specific.

When you do make a sale on the sites, you should try to despatch the item as quickly as possible, making sure it’s properly wrapped and protected. You should also be as honest as you can be with your descriptions and pictures, this way you’re far more likely to get good feedback from your buyers.
