A few people I know have been more than gossiping, they have been defaming my character.
As they are loud and vocal – this has lead me being "cruicified".
How do I do about stopping them.Would a solicitors letter or notice in the paper help?

  1. See a solicitor first and get some advice. Remember that gossip happens to all of us. Also you will need some kind of evidence to prove your case if it comes to that, which means affidavits by witnesses and things like that. It can be messy, so an appeal to some higher authority or mutual friend might be a possible course of action.

  3. Some years ago I had to fire and employee…..He later went around telling people I molested little children

There is no way to defend yourself…..once the rumors start everyone wants to believe the worst…

I immediately confronted the individual…..he stated he was just repeating what he was told…..I then went to a lawyer and had him compose a letter to this man…..informing him he had broken the law and I was prepared to sue…..I furnished him a copy and his father got a copy also (his father was paying rent on the 35 year old pot heads apartment)

I then told all my friends exactly what had happened and asked them to inform me if they heard any more rumors…..I was fully prepared to take him to court

Never heard a word out of this jerk again

The best defense is a good attack
