Are there any orthopaedic surgeons who do this or do they all need to go through a solicitor?

yes orthos do this,so do all types of contracted doctors. you sometimes can get them directly from docs ,but it’s hit and miss.not all use a solicitor.the older docs usually don’t.to save time use the solicitor,but if you have the time ask the doctor you want it from,he will tell you the solicitor’s name usually.and give the go ahead for you to get it.just be very polite,but persistent.again they will want to know why you want it.
you pretty much have to go thru a solocitor to get any report entered into a legal record, however, you can go to any doctor for an opinion.
