I had an idea but i want to make sure no one steals it, Ive told 2 people so far, while I was still wondering if it was good enough to bother with, but I then realised it was good and Im wondering now, how to make a document, or evidence of some kind which says it is my idea and unique and original, just incase the other people try and take it. I do trust them , but just in case… I cant afford lawyers or solicitation. I heard mailing things to yourself in a sealed dated envolope held up in court as evidence, and I have done that, is there any better ways, or is that enough, or was I mistaken?

Do a patent search. Make sure it’s not already filled by another. If it’s not then the only way is apply for the patent.

  3. The poor man’s copyright. Write it out in detail. Put it in a letter and mail it to yourself. NEVER open the letter unless you need the proof that you had the idea as of a certain date. The post mark on the envelope is your proof.

Easiest copy right is to send a dated notarized letter to yourself outlining your ides in detail via certified mail, NEVER OPEN IT

  5. It’s true. Legally, you can’t copyright an idea, only your work.
