Medical Records can indeed be difficult to obtain.
Usually, if you you know where the records are located: a Release is required. Now it might not be possible to get the Patient’s signature to release them. That’s where a few legal challenges enter the picture. To prove insanity and the needed records: this may very well require either a judge’s written ORDER to the hospital to have the records released. Or a subponea to the facility to provide the records For material Evidence. How to proceed? First contact the hospital and see what their restrictions are on their Records Release. That will tell you what channels you will need to go thru to get them into your hands. Hey, hope this helps! Good luck. Dr Steve

The medical records will have to be retained with a warrant.
