I am Australian, married a Thai girl came home. Had a solicitor but expensive but finding a few hurdles by my wife doing everything for visa.Is it worth hiring a solicitor.

    The biggest hurdle to getting a spouse visa is proving that you have a ‘genuine and continuing’ relationship and that the marriage isn’t one that was entered into to circumvent Australian immigration law. If your relationship is genuine, you should be able to prove it and if you can’t, a solicitor probably won’t be able to help. I’m sure you would already have it, but just in case, here’s a link to the Australian Partner Migration booklet which sets out everything you need to know. Pay particular attention to Part 8 which starts on page 38.
