  1. its do-able but not worth the time as there’s a high chance of you making a costly mistake if you’re doing it for the first time.

A conveyancer will cost you 300 – 400 its not worth being stingy over that.

assuming you’re purchasing a property brief process is as follows you do various searches on the property:
    1. title search
    2. vic rds search
    3. water search
    4. council rates search
    5. i think theres 1 more but i cant remember

you then liase with vendors conveyancer or solicitor regarding how many cheques vendor needs at settlement and payable to whom.

you then tie this information up with procceds from your loan and own funds – you would need to liase with your lender’s solicitor

you also need to organise aceusition statement and signed transfer of sale. you sign the transfer first and fwd to vendor side. at settlement vender side will produce same transfer paper signed by vendor and give to your lender’s solicitor to lodge with your mortgage at settlement with the titles office. acqusition statement is to be fwd to your lenders solicitor for them to lodge with govt.

If it is done improperly, it could be a costly mistake.

  3. Yes many times because I like to be in touch with what is happening. In NSW the other side solicitor assists and guides you for free. The bank, if one is involved, might give you some guidelines too. You could try employing a retired legal secretary to work as a clerk for you, doing the typing, etc. on an hourly basis but YOU are doing the conveyance. The secretary would only be your clerical employee.

The saving is not huge. If you really want to save money, do your own selling. The agent’s commission is much larger than the legal fees.

  4. Gonna link to this, I think my readers would like this as well. good work
