This sort of thing can get ugly real quick. What if you have a Naturist solicitor? Would they be allowed to go to court in their birthday suit?
I think they ( the muslims) should be allowed to do this to some extent, but they need to realize that the UK is NOT a Muslim dictatorship and that western customs prevail , or at least should prevail there.
Perhaps a compromise could be reached. Problems with the full drapery costume is verification of the ID of the solicitor, and security. It would be way too easy to sneak a bazooka or something in there when one is dressed as a caravan tent.
One problem I have with a lot of the muslim folks is that they are too often unwilling to give the tolerance to others that they demand for themselves. How long will it be until the muslim groups go from being allowed to go to court in a burka to insisting that EVERY woman be forced to wear one of those things? Show me one "muslim" country that shows any tolerance for those of other faiths.

there is no reason to wear the veil, hijab is good enough. i live in Islam country and never ever ever see the veil. i think no they can wear hijab and that is enough.

Again, if they are over here, they should do as we do and not as they wish. What is wrong with a wig and a robe.
If a non muslim female lawyer went to court in those countries, what rules apply. I doubt very much she would even be allowed in the court room.
On a lighter note: Are Muslim women so ugly that they have to hide their faces from the commoners? Of course not, it is more likely the muslim men that can’t stand the idea of another man looking at his Mrs. for fear of losing her.
Did you hear about the court case where there was a Muslim woman who was allowed to wear her veil while she was on the jury on a murder trial? She was hiding the fact that she had an "Ipod" under her veil with an earphone in her ear listening to music all through the court. Thank God they caught her and I think she was arrested and fined for it. I own a business and I will never allow any woman in my business with a veil. By the way, I live in the USA and I’ve had lots of Muslim customers in my time and I won’t stand for that veil crap at all and there’s nothing that says I have to and I NEVER will.
It should be allowed only in a Muslim nation. In a western society this should not be allowed for several reasons including security, and respect of others. The judge, jury, attorneys and others in the court room should see who they are talking to or about.
