She told Richard that his father had left him 4 millions pound and two sports cars

Richard said that he didn’t know what to say but he was going to drink to his father that night

He told the solicitor that he hadn’t spoken to his father in ten years

She said to me that my father had left me with 4 millions pound and two sports cars

I said that I didn’t know what to say but I was going to drink to my father that night

I said that I didn’t know what to say but I was going to drink to my father that night

I told her that I would finally pay off the debts

I said that my father would give the rest of the money to a homeless charity

The solicitor told me that I was given a house with fourteen bedrooms

As far as I understand indirect sentences, the key is to rephrase them by putting in what the person actually said, rather than writing "he said that…" and just describing what the person said.

Here’s how I would go about it:

Richard said, "My father’s solicitor phoned me the previous day. She said, ‘I have some good news.’"
      OR
Richard said, "My father’s solicitor phoned me the previous day to say she had some good news."

She told Richard, "Your father has left you 4 million pounds and two sports cars."

Richard said, "I don’t know what to say but I am going to drink to my father tonight."

He told the solicitor, "I haven’t spoken to my father in ten years."

He said, "I can finally pay off my debts."

He told the solicitor, "I will give the rest of the money to a homeless charity."

The solicitor said, "Your father has also given you a house with fourteen bedrooms."

      Hope that was helpful
