I would like to know what the laws are when it comes to government departments in Australia?

I got the following from legal aid Queensland

Defamation occurs when somebody speaks in a defamatory way to another person or when defamatory material such as articles or photographs are published. It is only defamation if the person who receives or hears the defamation understands that it is defamatory.

To be defamatory the statement or publication must:

* injure somebody’s reputation in the eyes of ordinary people in the community
* injure somebody in their profession or trade
* be likely to result in a person being shunned, avoided, ridiculed or despised.

The truth or an honest opinion on a matter of public interest will not be defamatory.

Queensland health have put deformation remarks in my files and they have been talking about me where other clients can hear what they have said. Is this deformation when health professionals talk to each other and clients hear to?

  1. I would like to see what the medical board says about your case being discussed with others ,I always thought that was illegal.
Truth be known defamation cases are not so easy to get into court in Australia all the people concerned seem to dive into their rat holes till it blows over
