What are the average charges for a solicitor to go over a 6page lease proposal and contact the landlord to negotiate the terms and complete any paperwork necessary?

    Hi Chapstick

It would be really hard to say what the average cost is. Despite the "average" hourly rate around $200+< per hour – some solicitors can be more draconian in posting their timesheet than others. Some solicitors prepare to strike a fixed sum with you.

A junior solicitor has a lower rate. A senior solicitor has a higher rate. A not very smart solicitor might consider him/herself senior, but only in age, not in knowledge. (And there are a lot of them…)

I am not a solicitor – I am an accountant. I sometimes posted all of my excess crappy unproductive hours to clients that I don’t like. Of course always with justification. Nice clients that ring me or email me for one question every odd hours… I just don’t charge them. Instead charge all of those times to those abusive clients. The key is – always with justification.

If you are running a business, it is a good idea to develop a relationship with a one good trustworthy solicitor (who is preferably also knowledgable, not just pretend to be smart)

    That aside….
