I have been arrested for questioning about alleged stalking. I believe based on what police have told me, their evidence is based on an IP address they have traced back to an internet provider who in turn have advised it was my work place IP. I dont believe (based on answers from here) that the IP address is enough proof to pin this on me ! If worst case scenario I receive a summons and have to appear in court, can anyone tell what might happened…surely if I get a solicitor they can argue there is no real proof I did this based on IP address alone. I have never contacted this person (which I know) by anyway in the past, my mobile, text, email etc.. Thanks
The person is my husband’s ex wife. So yes I know her, but have never had contact with her as said…she herself has been to jail for fraud (I think that was charge), she has also been involved with someone in the past couple of years that ended up in jail for violence against her. I feel like Ive been set up by her or someone she knows ?

If you have never contacted this person, how have you come to know her? If they have an IP address, and the fact that you know her, they may have a case. She has obviously made an allegation, and if you have a motive it may be enough to put it through the courts. You should get a Lawyer, the outcome is dependent on the evidence put to the jury. It is a tenuous argument if it is a work IP and they can’t place you at the scene when the stalking took place, though.
