My former employer has been ripping me off for the last year and half , mostly on overtime and not paying the proper rates of pay like meal allowances, loading, breaks etc etc , the list goes on forever, I’m to speak with a Union representive but I’m not sure if he can do much since I wasnt part of the Union whilst employed and I know longer work there, any suggestions?like legal , say maybe a solicitor?

Are you thinking about selling your home yourself? then
If this is Australia it is essential that you hang onto all the pay slips that you got when you were paid even if you were short.
The Australian Fair Pay Commission is the organisation that is supposed to resolve these problems for you if your Union rep is unable to do anything for you and often they aren’t able to do much.

Since Labor has come to office they have kept the Australian Fair Pay Commission and set up Fair Work Australia.

I would contact The Australian Fair Pay Commission before paying a solicitor as they are so expensive. You will probably be told to fill out a form and send they copies of your documentation.
DO NOT SEND ORIGINAL COPIES OF YOU DOCUMENTATION.
Photocopy all of your documentation. Hang onto the originals and have the photocopied copies verified by a Justice of the Peace. You can find a Justice of the Peace in a Real Estate Agents Office or Solicitors office or Banks and Credit Unions sometimes have one. You must produce the original documents and the copies to have them verified. Send only the verified copies to The Australian Fair Pay Commission when you make your submission to get the balance of your pay.
I wish you well in your endeavours to get the balance of your pay. In future your employer is supposed to negotiate the terms and conditions of employment at the time that he/she employs you so that you know what you are supposed to earn and what other benefits you are supposed to receive.
Good Luck!!!
Talk to a lawyer , take them to court , and tac on any layer fees to the suit.
