My boyfriend got badly injured at work. As there were OH&S issues involved we are looking for a lawyer. We are however really confused about the fees. Can anyone tell me what does 1.4 of the Supreme Court Scale mean and whether that is reasonable charge?

What state are you in? As you haven’t stated, I don’t know which Supreme Court scale you are talking about. Have a look for yourself on http://www.austlii.edu.au to find the appropriate scale.
Generally, if a solicitor is willing to charge you only what the scale states, that is very reasonable. Usually, most solicitors will charge a great deal more than scale.
