I have been chasing up the house contract to my lawyer/conveyancer for 4 months. At first one of the employee there told me that they don’t normally send the contract, they usually keep it in their office but if I want a copy he can send it to me. So i waited but nothing came. I called again then another employee told me that it should be sent a month ago and could not do anything if it was lost in the mail. She said she cannot provide me another copy and told me why do i need the contract anyway. i then spoke to the actual lawyer and told me she will get a copy but it’s been more than a month but she’s still telling me that its on its way. How important is the house contract. is it worth calling them every week?

The lawyer is responsible for providing you with copies of loan documents and any documents related to the transfer of title of the property. Your Realtor can provide you with a copy of the contract. If you didn’t use a Realtor, you should have a copy of the contract already. The law firm does have a copy, and should be able to give you a copy, but I always make sure I give my clients a clean copy of all contract docs before closing occurs.
